Town of Milford renovates Civil War Memorial building

September 18, 2001  The Preservation Partnership completed construction drawings and specifications earlier this year for the town of Milford for renovations and access improvements to the Memorial Building, a nineteenth century Grand Army of the Republic memorial building. MacLeod Consulting designed structural framing to accommodate new stairs, ramp, and elevator shaft along with structural repairs to tie floors to walls to meet building code requirements for seismic strengthening. This building was originally designed by Fred Swasey in the French Gothic Style, circa 1884. The Town intends to continue using this building as originally intended and as a museum. Construction is underway for a scheduled completion in 2002.
