New church for Manchester Diocese in New Hampshire
November 20, 2000 Early in 1998, working with architects, deCastro/Nelson Associates of Boston, MacLeod Consulting completed the structural design of this new church for the St. Mary Parish of Rochester, New Hampshire. A central lobby connects a sanctuary and the parish hall function rooms. The principal support of the sanctuary roof is achieved with two parallel chord trusses spanning 55 feet built from glued-laminated timber. These support king post trusses and beams of glued-laminated timber. The transept wing roofs are supported with timber scissor trusses and beams. The lobby and function room roofs are supported with timber girders and light framed wood trusses. Update: Bonnette Page & Stone Corp., a contractor based in Laconia, NH, completed construction early in 2001. Learn more about this architect at dnarchitects.com.
